1. Mobile App Overview
Once your account is created and you log into the app, you’ll see this as your landing page:
Browse Workouts
This is for all users, and many riders use this for solo workout options, as there are hundreds of workouts to choose from.
Create Workout
Members in your class will not have this option, only instructors can see this. Please note this has limited functions, so we do recommend you design your sessions on a laptop computer or desktop, rather than a mobile device.
Ticket to Ride
This connects you and your riders to the workout session you’ve chosen for the class. Once you launch the class, the 4-digit Ticket to Ride number is displayed in the upper right corner of the screen to start, and in the lower right corner of the screen during the class. Anyone joining the class can simply use that number to join the session.
Just Ride
This is for riders who would like to record their workout when there is not a session to connect to. Simply touch the Bluetooth icon on the bottom right, find the desired device (power meter, console, HR monitor, Apple watch…), and press the green Connect button.
Across the top bar, you see your profile icon (picture or initial), the Notification icon (alerting you of messages from Intelligent Cycling), and the ‘hamburger’ (see red arrow) which holds several menu options seen below:
Be sure to click through each of these to familiarize yourself with where they lead. In this menu we want to highlight the ‘QR Login’. This is a time-saving feature when you enter the studio to teach. Once the Intelligent Cycling App is up on the main computer in your studio, instead of typing in your credentials, click on the ‘Sign in with QR code’ option. You’ll then choose the ‘QR Login’ option above to scan the QR code on the main screen- quick and easy.
2. Mobile App Use: As a Rider
For your riders in class who want their data recorded, they will either use the Just Ride or the Ticket to Ride options. Just Ride is used when they are in the studio riding an no Intelligent Cycling class is in session. The Ticket to Ride is their option when they'd like to connect to a session happening in the studio. After a session is complete, they will have a few pages of workout information to scroll through. This information is also saved in their Workout History on the front-page menu. It’s very important that your riders know how to pair their mobile app with the bikes in your studio, so ensure you and your team understand how to connect the app to the bike and can assist your riders accordingly.
3. Mobile App Use: As an Instructor
The app will work as a remote control or control panel for you as an instructor. It has differing uses for those delivering classes pre-designed in the Session Designer and those teaching using the Freestyle option. However, for both options, the instructor must open the app and enter the Ticket to Ride.
Session Designer Classes: For classes planned through the Session Designer, the app will do 3 things for you as an instructor:
- You can start the class on the mobile app once you’ve connected to the Ticket to Ride
- In addition to seeing what the riders are seeing, you also have a banner telling you what is next in the workout to assist you in your coaching.
- If you added cue cards to your workout as you designed it, those will also show only on your mobile app during class.
Freestyle Classes: Since freestyle classes are taught ‘on the fly’, rather than delivering a pre-built session, the mobile app is required. There is another section in this Education portal on teaching with Freestyle, including all the details; so for now, just note that this is one of the ways an instructor would use the mobile app.
As always, hands on practice is the best way to familiarize yourself with something new, so take a few moments, open the app on your phone or tablet, and check out the options. Next up- The Session Designer.
